The Curmaps .ini file is split into many sections, each having a line reading "sounds = " with no data entry after the equals. I'm sure that if we knew where to actually put the .wav file we could add a data entry here and it would have some effect. Anyone out there tried this?

The .ini file you mention also appears in the 510 and also in the PDA version. People tried to edit toat file on both of the above platforms without success.

Actually it does work, and works exactly as described in the earlier post.

Dilemma,

Are you saying that you can assign one sound per Custom POI category?

Yes, providing that you remember to also change both the file in the "My POI" directory of the CD card as well as the corresponding file in the backup directory within the "Flash Disk".

Sorry reply was not very useful when read again. What you need to do is to download a series of small .wav files to your "My POI" directory on the SD card. You then edit the individual POI file (appears as a note pad with a cog in the middle). You need to add the line "soundfile=****.wav", where "****" is the sound file you have already placed in the directory. Once done copy the files and overwrite the equivalnet ones on the flash disk.

Well thanks for that. It's something I've been trying to do on my PPC version for ages, without success. I wonder if it will work on that and on my iCN635, too.

So much to do, so little time.....

I followed the instructions posted by Dilemma to add custom soundfiles and initially had great success. The newly added file played when proximity to one of the programmed POIs was reached. However, I since found that at some point through my journey the iCN stopped playing any sound for either POI's or voice directions. Is there a chance that if the unit tries to play both at the same time it could hang up? I think that for now I will edit the POI ini files back to original and see if everything reverts to normal and I'll keep an eye out for suggestions.

Hi chill
The free download is the one you want, open it and you will see `csv files` (4th one down) open that and you will see `other` (4th one again) they are the files you want to copy to your 520. I have a 520 and they work a treat.
shughie.

Any ideas where you can get all the cameras in ONE POI instead of having them all seperate? As I would just like to use the Speed Camera bmp you get with the unit and also save POI selection space by only having to select 1 instead of say 18.

Cheers

It's in the Folder 'single file version\asc file\' and is named, unfortunately, pocketgps_gb_gatso.asc

Thats so even though named gatso it has everything that the 5 or 18 seperate ones have.... thats good :D

How does it no to use the speed camera bmp that you get with the iCN520 unit and is there a link that shows a step by step guide on how to add them to the unit (where to put them etc...)

Thanks :D
