Hi
I have a bt338 (ttm5) which i only use occasionally. It takes me over 5 minutes some times to get a fix. Can some one please give me some tips on how to get a fix on sats a lot quicker.

Use it more often.

Seriously - if you leave the unit off for extended periods of time then the base data gets voided and needs to be reloaded from the satellites. The times you see this taking are normal.

firstly thanks for the quick reply lbendlin.
Do you think taking the battery out and re-inserting it or turning the unit on and off helps to get a quick fix?
Iv even heard of some one strap the bt338 with some tape on top of the car to get better sat readings Smile

You CANNOT get a quicker fix when the base tables need to be reloaded. Just live with it.

If you know that you're going to need it, take it into your house and switch it on a bit earlier. It will probably acquire a location from within the house, especially if you place it near a window. Although it will switch off after 10 minutes or so if you don't connect a Bluetooth device to it, it should still start up quicker if it acquired a location before switching off.
