ready for your street pilot i3 in the correct format: http://MaFt.co.uk/misc/GarminPOIs.zip

cheers to pocketgpsworld for the tom tom poi's that have been converted and the csv files put in the right format for the i3.

all poi's need to be in samefolder, cos if you upload a new folder it wipes the previous custom poi's

anyway, enjoy the zip - let me know if you found it useful cos i can do more if needed.

could do with a morrisons one though ;)

cheers for the link - morrisons now downloaded Smile

hmm... bit dodgy where they get their info from though Sad it'd be nice if there was a way to get the lat/long of those points we saved as 'favourites' otherwise i wouldn't know how to be able to make a poi list myself... i feel a bit tight raping all the tomtom ones converting to csv and editing to make them go on the garmin i3...

Generally speaking the creators of POI's don't object to their work being converted for use on other navigatio aids. I include .csv files, with the .ov2 and .bmp files, in my own POI zips.

use the 'POI Edit' program (available on downloads page) to open ov2 files and convert them to .csv files. then set up the file in excel so that it has 3 columns: longitude, latitude and name and re-arrange the colums to fit that style.

the morrisons, burger king and kfc will be added to that zip sometime in the next few days!

MaFt

ps - i don't mind hosting these garmin poi's but if pocketgps wants to host them with appropriate links in the downloads section then let me know!

This may sound like a stupid question but when I use POI Edit I'm given two options for .csv files - Destinator and Navman. Does it matter which I use. Sorry but I'm new to this and I don't want to wreck my i3

no, it doesn't matter (i use the "pushpins" option, purely because it saves as a .CSV, and it's the file format that's important).

all you need is the data in a .CSV file in 3 columns - longitude, latitude and name - and it will work fine. you can open the .CSV file using Excel to check it before you upload if you want to.

chic - if you've downloaded POIConverter v3 from the downloads page, all you need to do is "open" the file you want to convert - and it will show in the window. Then click the "save" button, and choose the file type ".CSV" in the "save as file type" dropdown at the bottom, then click "save". This will also show in the window once it's converted - happens in the blink of an eye....

hope that helps

Thanks for that advice gg. I was also having trouble with POI edit, but using POIConverter makes life easy.
