Sorry if this questions been asked before but I've had a look round the forum and couldn't find anything.
I recently bought the software only version of Tom Tom 5 with the western Europe maps from PDA Mods. Is there anyway of copying the installation files to an SD card so I can reload it on to my PDA if I'm away from my computer?
If it can be done what files from the CD need to be put into the card?
I'm a little worried that I might accidently wipe it (happened to a friend while he was in France) and I'm off to Germany in a couple of weeks without a computer.
Thanks very much for the help. |

All you really need to get up and running again is TTN.CAB (make sure it's set to read only , otherwise the CAB file gets deleted after installation.
(
Another way is to install TTN5 directly onto the storage card, so it can't get lost - unless the card gets corrupted etc. _________________ Lutz

Or you could consider buying Sprite back-up software, and save the back-up on the card as a self executable file. It gets you up and running again from a hard reset in just a few minutes. Excellent bit of software.

Didn't you get one Sd card with that package with pre-installed software and UK map?
It contains a folder 2577 with all necessary cab files (read-only as Lutz suggested). And in the root you find a file called start.exe. That normally autostarts the application if present on your ppc. If the installation is lost, running start.exe will start the re-installation. The only thing it doesn't do is activate again. So keep your code with you. |
