Hi,

I have a TomTom 3 Nav system on my Dell Axim X30. I downloaded the Speed Cameras database, checkpoints and soundfiles and followed all the guidleines for installation.

However the one thing I can't seem to get working is the sound
when I pass a speed camera. I believe I have tried all the basic stuff but
to no avail. Please can anyone help?

Thanks in anticipation

p.s. I'm thinking of upgrading to the TT 5, will the speed camera database still work with this. (see told you i'm new to this)

Presuming that you downloaded and installed CheckPOInt v2 or v3, then you need to drop all of the .ov2 files, .bmp and sound files into your Great_Britain Navigator Map folder on the storage card (the files that you downloaded from this web site - Safety Camera etc), then from the CheckPOInt menu you need to configure all the different settings;

General
International

then on the tab Overlay settings, just tap the + sign next to the folder, it will then show all of the poi's you have loaded and you can then high-light each one and then tap the Properties button, then configure as required.

I may of confused you when I said that you needed to install all of the files that you downloaded from this web site, that's not true, if you just want to have the different types of cameras with the icons then you would use the following files from the zip file

pocketgps_uk_gatso.ov2
pocketgps_uk_gatso.bmp
pocketgps_uk_mobile.ov2
pocketgps_uk_mobile.bmp
pocketgps_uk_redlight.ov2
pocketgps_uk_redlight.bmp
pocketgps_uk_specs.ov2
pocketgps_uk_specs.bmp
pocketgps_uk_temp.ov2
pocketgps_uk_temp.bmp

also select the sound files that you would like to use and then copy and paste them to Great_Britain Navigator Map folder on the storage card.

Thank you for replying but having tried this i'm still stumped !!!!

Having checked the they are in the correct file on the storage card i did notice that a few of the files say ' there are no applications associated with 'sound files_ english'

Is this maybe something to do with my programme or would I have downloaded these incorrectly!!

help is very much appreciated

Thanks

Using your guide the only thing that I hadn't done was to configure the third tab, 'speed camera' I've done this now, i'll let you know if it works

Well it worked at first, then after turning off the nav system when stopped and then trying to start it again the nav didn't want to turn on.

Once I got that to operate then the speed cameras didn't allow the sound to work again. I have been back through and re configured.

Like the cricket today i'm well and truely bowled over. Me and technology don't mix.

I'm at a loss as to what to try next

Try reading the Installation.doc on here
It might explain it better.

Graham

Thank you for your help as well. All this seems to correct. I think it must be at install stage.

I'm going to remove it and start again. Hopefully that'll work

Thanks Potley
