Is their any way of backing all of the favourites contained within TomTom
Navigator 5?
I use an XDA2S which sometimes hard resets, I hate loosing all of my
favourites each time.

In TTN5 I have stopped using favourites. I have created a POI Catgeory of Favourites instead. You can 'import' your favourites to become POIs and so able to save them as POI instead. So by copying your Favorites POI to your computer you can save them.
This may solve your problem of losing Favourites when hard reset occurs.
The How To:
Go to Manage POI
Add POI Category of Favourites (or whatever you want to call them)
Add POI now to that category and you can select from your Favourites
Once all have been copied over to become POI Delete the favourites.
Hey Presto savable and exportable Favourites {PS you can also have your new Favourites (POI) show on map under enable/disable POI} |

Thanks for replying, I have created a new POI group and imported all of my favorites, it works a treat.
Where is the POI file located to backup, is it the one on the SD card within the Great Britain Map folder?

The group and all the POIs are now located in you main map folder on the SD card. Just use active sync and look for the group you named and copy the ov2 file and the bmp file to somewhere safe and if you need to re-install etc then you can just copy them back again. It is unlikely that even a hard reset will clear the map folder on an sd card. Hard reset really just re-installs the base programs on the PDA not affecting the SD card. |
