hi seem to be doing all that you ask in the instructions to down load the Speed camera data base into my 510 navman V3.
On trying to load via the Smart ST interface and activat the PIO's editor to send to the naveman i get an erro message " no pio's fond in input file"
Yes have removed the header and saved.
Yes using a CSV file type.
Tried both single and individual file types.
Help?
Regards

What programme did you use to remove the header information? _________________ Tim |

I am using iCN 630 with very recently purchased V3 SmartST software with a view to using this camera database. HOWEVER i also have the same problems as skynner had and cannot seem to "crack it" like he (jammy) has just done. I have tried excel and notepad and still no joy. interestingly (maybe) when i import to notepad to remove the top line of words from the data the columns are all over the place in certain rows, as if someone has pressed tab to indent every 20 or so rows. seeing as the main incentive to shell out 80 quid was for the speed camera POIs i really really would like to get it working! ANY advice or run-thrus of what you did would be most helpful. cheers guys, and gals (do girls frequent Pocket GPS forums?!) |

I would try extracting the .csv files from the zipfile again and re-editing, using only Notepad. Sometimes when you use Excel first, then have another go with Notepad, the file becomes corrupted. _________________ Tim |

Have now "cracked it", cheers tim. Help for others:
My zip file opened in winrar, i then extracted the file (single file version csv) to the desktop as is. It had an excel icon as it would open in excel by default DO NOT TOUCH EXCEL WITH THE FILE! i proceeded to right click and select open with, chossing notepad from the list. I removed the first line of text and then selected save as to save a new txt version to the desktop. use the POI editor as before and this works. Hope this helps anyone else... :D |

My unzipped files show the Excel icon too but i don't seem to have the 'open with' facility you mention. I can only 'open' which then of course launches Excel.
Any other ideas as this is getting me hacked off!! |

The other option is to extract the file and then open Notepad. From the Notepad menu click File > Open. Change the type of file to All Files and then navigate to the file location, highlight it and click Open. Naturally, if you want more than one file, you will have to repeat this process for each type.
What version of Windows are you using? _________________ Tim |
