Hi

Is there anyway to customize the zoom level, every time I zoom out, with in no time it zooms back in and this is not good as the zoom is to close, and I can’t see the names of the roads ahead once it zooms in. Once I set the zoom level to where I want it I can see all the roads around me and what’s coming up, but then it zooms in automatically and once it does this I can’t see the names of the roads know more. Does anyone know of a way of stopping the automatic zoom?

Thanks

My GO always shows the names of roads I go past, and upcoming roads maybe 50-100 yards ahead...

I don't know if it makes a difference between 2D/3D views. I use 3D all the time and I see what's near me and that's enough to take in a quick glance!!

Personally I find the 3-D view much less useful than the 2-D birds eye view. I want to see (at a glance) what is coming up and the 2-D view is much better at this. The detail given is excellent and I find much clearer than the 3-D view, which seems to me to obscure some of the finer detail.

I tried the 3-D view for a couple of days and quickly reverted back. I accept that the 3-D view gives an indication of what the road ahead is going to do but I find my eyes do an even better job!

I do accept that most people like the Tomtom 3-D view. It is good that we have a choice which means everyone is happy.

The zoom level is automatic. You can, of course, use the + and - buttons located top right/top left to temporarily change the zoom, but the automatic zoom quickly cuts in. The clever thing is the speed related aspect - the slower you go the more detail seems to be shown - for example as you approach a complex junction at slow speed a great deal of detail is shown. I think TT have done a pretty good job of the display scaling.

I agree with that.

There will always be differences of opinion about what is best - 'you can't please everybody all of the time'. I think Tom Tom have got it about right in having 2 options.
