Simple question for you, dear experts ...
I've merged POI's from different sources, using POIEdit.
I'm pretty sure there are duplicate ones, and I'd like to find them into my POI list.
Do you know about any software that would allow me to look for diuplicate POI's (also POI's distant from 15 meters, for example), and possibli delete them ?
What is the best POI management tool I can use on a PC ? MS Autoroute ?
Thanks ! |

I don't know of anything that will do it straight off. If I were faced with this problem, this is what I would do:
* Convert the .ov2 file to .csv and open it in MS Excel
* Sort it into Latitude order
* Create an additional column and put a formula on each row which compares each entry with the previous entry and returns "DUP" or somesuch if Lat and Long are both within specified tolerances (or calculate the distance from the previous point and set the flag if it is less than a specified amount)
* Scroll down the file looking at marked entries, and decide which ones to delete
* Get rid if the extra column and save the file as a .csv again
* Convert it back into a .ov2
It may sound complicated, but it probably took me longer to describe the prccess than it would to do it!

Oldie's excellent POI Manager will do what you require, it can both check for duplicate entries as well as weed out similar entries that exist within a user defined radius. Download it here. _________________ Darren Griffin |
