A bit long winded, but you can do all this at leisure at home, in a few minutes, which is nothing compared to the possible time wasted if you get lost in a strange land in the dark at the end of a long tiring drive.


The UK part of MRE is a bit like that too. If you browse the map while looking at a paper map (or maybe at AutoRoute) you can pinpoint where you want to go (as long as the roads are there, which they usually are) even if the place name isn't displayed, or searchable. You can then create a POI at your chosen destination, and navigate to it.

This is just about acceptable when you can plan everything in advance and create POIs for all the places you intend to visit. Not so good if you suddenly find the need to go to some unplanned destination when you are already on the road!
