My new TTG was supplied with an SD card containing UK maps plus software version 4.42

It was also supplied with a CD from which I have loaded the main roads of Europe onto another memory card. But the software version on the CD is only 4.40

Is there any significant difference, and can I copy selected files (if so, which ones) from one card to the other - via hard disk - in order to get the latest version on my new card?

TIA.

The version differences are listed on the TomTom support site (which also offers the 4.42 update)

Unless I'm missing something, it isn't very explicit about 4.42 vs 4.40.

To answer my own question, you *can* simply copy the files and directories from one card to another rather than installing from the CD.

Incidentally, when using a card on which I had installed v4.40 from the CD, I had several instances where TTG froze - i.e. it read the data from the card and then sat there for ever with the TTG hards displayed. It wouldn't respond to the off button, and had to be reset with a paperclip. I haven't had that problem since I copied v4.42 from the other card. Is this a known issue?

Another question . . . According to the manual, when you reset TTG with a paperclip, it returns it to factory defaults. Does anyone know exactly what parameters are reset - 'cos I haven't found any obvious ones so far!
