|
|
My mate has just bought a GO and is getting virtually not signal in his Clio, but he gets full signal in his GFs Astra (unit therfore OK). I'm guessing then that the clio has some kind of heated windscreen whch is obstructing the signal.
But I would be just interested to know if anyone has got good reception in a Clio and if so, where it was possitioned etc..
Cheers guys |

Renault / Peugeot / Citroen cars typically have athermic / heat reflecting windscreens fitted which block GPS reception most effectively. The definitive solution is an external aerial. A quick browse around the forum area will reveal that the offical TomTom antenna is in very short supply. |

Vauxhall Zafira, didn`t really want to have to use external receiver found the Go fits neatly on the drivers door window and works OK. |

Athermic windscreens are fitted to most french manufactured cars. |

I too have an '04 Clio and found myself needing the external antenna. No need to trail the wire round the car though as there is an uncoated area of windscreen at the bottom - the receiver just needs to sit below this and it works fine.
This make it far far easier to take the mount out of the car. I am considering shortening the cable so that there is only 4" of wire between the mount and the receiver as this is all it needs - just a little worried about killing the whole thing! |
