A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Halifax

Hi Guys
Has this happened to anyone else, or does anyone have advise on whats happened or what I need to do to stop it happening again.

I have had my TTG for 3 months, downloaded POI successfully, all running nicely on a new 512mb SD card. Until yesterday, I set a route from my home to Halifax. Half way there the screen went blank then the 2 Red Hands logo came on, then the opening set up screen came on (in Italian if you please). As you can imagine this caused quite a bit of confussion as I was hurtling down the Elland bypass at the time. When I pulled in and managed to work my way through the Italian set up screens to the "change language" screen which I then changed back to English. Everything seems back to normal, all my saved routes, previous destinations are present.
Anyone any ideas.

No idea, but don't hurtle down the Elland bypass if your TTG is misbehaving as there are 2-3 safety cameras on each carriageway and it's a 50mph limit!! They are on the safety camera database.. ;-)

I always observe the speed limits, doing 50 mph whilst trying to figure what the hell has happened to your TTG seems like your "hurtling"

I once had a sudden 'red hands' moment with TTG in the first week I had it. Nothing since though.

ive had that happen to my tom tom unit quite a few times.it must be reseting itself.
i just leave it till it comes back on then re-input my destinastion.

it most likely came back on in italian because you tried pressing the screen while it was reseting :D

dont know why it resets???? anybody? Confused

Resetting is usually a fail-safe because it can't read a file on the SD card. Resetting also occurred on some of the beta versions but has been fixed in the production release when GO was released in the summer.

I've never had it switch to a foreign language though, this suggests that the config file has corrupted or it can't read it (bad CRC).

You may want to scandisk the card in a PC Card Reader.
