Hi

Ive just got one of these little blue wired gps units for my xda 2s and I havent got and instructions with it and really havent got a clue how to get it going, can anyone help, so far I have it setup on tomtom as tomtom wired gps serial on usb would anyone know if this is right? nothing is happening and im not sure if its the unit or me. Im now wishing I had purchased a known make.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

These blue GPS units should work with the TomTom GPS on Serial or with the NMEA 4200 GPS Drivers in TomTom on your PDA. I have had no problems with mine using the TomTom GPS driver on Serial on my Dell Axim... However the first one I bought I returned because it was faulty, Although I spent an awfully long time trying to get it working. It just simply wasn't getting a signal lock

I recommend leaving the unit with a clear view of the sky for up to 15-30 mins in the first instance, after that it should be OK...

One thing I should mention, my replacement GPS unit worked better when I upgraded the TomTom GPS drivers to version 3.0. I got the downloads from this VERY VERY useful site.

I recommend getting a copy of CruxView to test the GPS unit to see if it is actually receiving a signal and if it can get a lock... I also got CruxView from this site...

The guy on EBay is usually quite helpful, i.e. he pointed me in the right direction to try out the first unit I got... But it was faulty in the end...

All I can say is it is probably touch and go... Good Luck!

Regards
Claud.
