Stobie, it's seems curious (to me at least) that my update stuck at 1 hour 48 min and yours at 1 hour 31 min. Hopefully, one of the experts on here can explain why?
In future, I'm going to wait a couple of weeks or so before updating like I usually do. I can do without the stress! |

Well there are far too many reasons why a map update may appear to be or is actually stuck to be able to explain every one. The vast majority go without a hitch.
However it's one reason why many folks decide to use a clone device to download the update so that if there ever is an issue the satnav isn't affected. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Thank you, sussamb. I've had seven updates go without a hitch previously.
May I ask what you mean by a clone device? |

To create a clone you copy the Garmin folder from your device to a SD card or USB stick. Express will see that as your device, since the Garmin folder contains the file GarminDevice.xml which is the file that contains the details about your device.
Express will install all the updates then to your card/stick. Having done that successfully you then manually copy the files to your device. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

I must be in the minority that has had more failures than clean map updates. Fortunately a second run always seems to either carry on from where it failed or has a second try using the already downloaded maps. _________________ Satnav:

I had the same thing a week or so ago with my nuvicam. It had previously updated ok out of the box but hung on updating the 2017 map.
I tried again today and bingo it took about 15 minutes!!
Just checked that the 2017 was indeed loaded (yes) but there is an additional "map" Europe DEM. What is that? |

Typing 'Europe DEM' into Google would have saved you quite a lot of typing |

Not sure what that is?
Just Google What is a DEM basemap if that link isn't working for you. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Link works just fine and dandy for me.
Get rid of skimlinks in your browser. |
