Ok, I took the Sat-nav back to Halfords yesterday to try to establish if the issue was with my device. The manager was fantastic and couldn't do enough for me. We tried my SD card in various other units, an identical 2569 also could not read my maps and neither could it's big brother the 2599. We tried it in other models including the 2597 and the nuvi 65 and that worked. The manager has said he will change the model for me if required. Got back home and contacted Garmin again however they wanted me to send the device and card off for repair to them. As far as I can see the device is working as normal but it has a issue reading my SD card, possibly because the card is almost 4 years old. Maybe Garmin have different mapping system now that's not compatible with my old card, who knows!!! Let's just hope if I buy a new latest release card that it will work.

That is strange. Never heard of that before. The 25x7/8/9 are all the same series so I can't see why it works in some but not others.
Having said that Garmin are slowly introducing into their units methods of defeating counterfeit maps. This has caused issues with some of their handheld models not recognising OSM mapping and even in some cases Garmin maps, though the latter is rare.
Before you go to the expense (which you shouldn't have to) of buying a new card I'd return to Garmin and explain the situation again and ask them what they intend to do to resolve the issue. If necessary ask to speak to someone higher up, since Garmin should be able to either resolve this for you or explain what is actually going wrong.
If no joy please let me know and I'll try to raise it via my contacts at Garmin. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way.
Thanks, however as I didn't buy the map card direct from Garmin, I got it from satnaveasy.co.uk, I still have original packaging and receipt, Garmin will not investigate my problem without actually physically seeing the unit and card. I can still take my old 1390 on holiday so I'm not stuck, but I'd rather be able to use the new device. Thanks for all your help thus far.
No, do you think I should contact satnaveasy.co.uk as the card is almost 4 years old and well out of warranty. I don't think they'll be interested. As far as they'll be concerned the card works in other devices so it's not their problem, I don't know this but I'm assuming this is how they would feel, thanks.
It's a bit of a long shot but I don't suppose you would know the name and address of anyone with authority at Garmin UK whom I could write a letter to explaining the situation. Many thanks.
While checking the device specification today on Halfords.co.uk I've noticed it says that the 2569 & the 2599 are not expansion capable, however the 2597 is capable so that would tie in with my issues. I would have expected Garmin to have been aware of this though.

Well I have no idea what that could possibly mean but adding/installing other maps I wouldn't describe as 'expansion'. I can't see any reference to it on the Garmin website. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way.
