I am looking to update to a more modern GPS and am considering a Garmin.
I have however what to some may seem a unusual requirement.
Because of my leisure interests I have to approach some destinations by a particular route, not the one suggestested by the navigation device.
To this end I want to provide my own itiniary, by constructing a route where some of the waypoints would be a point on a particular road as oposed to a paticular address or POI.
I can do this on my Tom Tom One XL but would like to know if it is possible on any Garmin model.
I have tried getting the information from suppliers such as Halfords but only get blank looks or incorrect information such as "all Tom Toms will do that" which I know is not true as some Tom Tom Models will not even let you enter Lat & Lon coordinates so I am suspicious of what else they have removed..
Sorry for being long winded but I do not know a shorter way to get my requirements across.

The Garmin 14xx series will allow you to do that, and enable you to store up to 10 routes at once, although there are ways to have many more. Later nuvi models have a feature called 'trip planner', which many find not as useful as the 'route planner' on the 14xx series, but would also allow you to do what you want.

Garmin's free Basecamp program also enables you to plan routes etc on your PC and download them to your nuvi, should you so wish.
