Has anyone any bright ideas of how I can get a bracket to mount both my Tomtom 940 and radar detector together?
I would like to use the mini usb connector on the Tomtom to feed the radar detector hence only requiring one connector to the 12 volt supply.
It would be nice to have them fastened together so I didn't have the problem of sticking them both onto the windscreen separately but put them on as a single unit.
I dont really like the dual mounts that are advertised as I would prefer the radar detector to be mounted vertically above the Tomtom and not side by side.

Not heard of anything like that and you'd need a 'Y' type USB cable to power two devices?

The Tom tom mount has a mini usb out connector which could be used to directly power the mini usb power input on the radar detector.

Thats an input not a power output.

In addition running two devices off a single 5V regulator will probably overload it causing it to heat up/ burn out, if it fails there is a high probablity you will fry both bits of hardware - Mike

It has a mini-USB IN connector to power the TomTom. It's not a USB out.

I stand corrected it is the radar detector which has a power out on a mini usb and is made specifically to power a Tomtom device

Yes it is marked as a BTST radar and laser device from the Talex stable - have only had it for 2 weeks but it seems to be doing what I expected, but have not had any radar or laser pointed at me yet. It seems to show that there is a fair percentage of gatso cameras not active (Still too scared to try and prove it!!!)

Why not instal the speed camera database from this site and do away with the warning receiver as it's easily capable of warning for fixed and mobile camera locations - Mike

I already have but I felt that this would be insurance as if you see how many new sites are found every month I would hate to find one of these at speed!!!!!

The problem is that ever fewer GATSO's and other fixed cameras are using radar to trigger them.

Laser detection is a joke and doesn't work and the use of radar/laser detectors is going to be outlawed when the final part of the Road Safety Bill comes into force.

But I'm wandering off topic now so apologies Embarassed
