Hello,

Could anyone kindly let me know if there are any idiot proof instructions anywhere, for downloading and installing the updated maps for my Go 300 ?

I have ordered a new 1gb card but have'nt a clue as to whether I should just stick the new blank card in the Tom Tom and expect TT Home to do the rest, or do I first have to copy over the contents of my old card? I do have a card reader if that helps?
Thanks very much for any advice you can give.

Copy your old card anyway (remember to make sure Explorer shows all file extensions) - copy to a handy new folder on your hard disk.

Then do a TomTom Home backup of it also.

Then hide the old card in the same safe place as your crown jewels.

Get the new card, copy all that stuff from your hard disk folder and it should then work just as well as the old card.

Then do the TT Home map download (providing you're on Broadband - on dialup it might take an age).

Thanks a lot Dennisn,

I'll give it a go when new card arrives. Just had another thought! - My 300 didn't come with a mains connector. Do you know if downloads will work with the unit connected only via the USB cable? If not, can I use the card reader instead? Sorry to be a pain, but thanks for any more info.

No mains is a nuisance for downloads if they take long enough to run your battery down - you don't want to go flat in the middle. Definitely use the card reader every time. My card (when I had a 300) worked just like it was a Satnav - TT Home thinks it's attached.
When you go for the download, TT Home should handle it all for you - sit back and believe in the magic of New Technology! 8O

Did I forget to say Welcome
