Hmmm - so wonder what it is then - since mine steadfastly refuses to misbehave! 8)

Got the Jan Speedcams and MaFt's POIs loaded, btw.

No-your're not alone, like you I have not seen any WSOD's, just a general feeling that the unit is sluggish at times, easily demonstrated in 'view map' mode, where the speed is not always updated as quicky as it used to be.

I'm not using an external aerial,& have the latest camera & MaFt POI's BTW

Been using v2.90 & it took ages to get its first fix after update (half hour)
Before that I used the beta vers with no problems
Since update I have had to use external antenna to ensure reliable reception, sometimes on voice prompts displays goes white for a few seconds sometimes goes white briefly showing switch off screen (30 secs countdown) perhaps 30 seconds or more before screen displays route info.Voice instructions are not affected.
I do like the categorised PO Is though. Will stick with it untill Garmin firmware fix. Nb always powered from cig lighter.

I have just had to do a hard reset after the unit refused to locate any satelites for 3 hours!
Works like a dream now, although I suprisingly did not lose the speed camera database that was in there.

This is all very strange. Since updating to 2.90 I've done many hundreds of miles with no problems apart from a slight (one or two minutes) delay in getting a satellite lock from cold.

Sorry folks but I'm not happy, why change the menu from scrolling down the country name as in 2.70 to scrolling down the alphabet to select the country in 2.90, I know you only have to push the left button to change it to the country list but it was OK before.
My biggest bug bear is that the final voice prompt to turn left of right is now at .2 miles instead of at the turn itself, you could have 6 left turns before you get to the one you want, so now you have to watch the screen instead of looking where your going.
Finally; the unit now retains the last navigation you were on even if the unit has been turned off, today I was 5 miles off route before I realised it was taking me back to where I was last night.
I phoned Garmin and asked if I could down grade to 2.70 as 2.90 had a number of issues, unfortunately they flatly refused to let me have the file so I'm stuck with 2.9.
If anybody out there still has a copy of 2.70 PLEASE email me on id.graham@service247.co.uk or even just send me a copy.

Anyone else found 2.90 a let down due to blank screen in "view map" mode and slow screen refresh in navigation mode.

Use this link if you want to go back to 2.70 or 2.82

I quite agree

I'm sure I get a 'turn left' etc at the appropriate point.

I thought it always remembered where it was when last switched off

Sorry, re-read your post, I now understand what you meant, I hadn't actually noticed that feature.

Mine was prompting me at .2 miles which was far to early, with regard to the continuing navigation, I under stand the unit keeps its last location but mine was still navigating, this was the problem,
I have now gone back to 2.70 and alls well. :D

Are you saying that you get your final prompt as you reach the turning? I've gone from v0.0 to v2.7 and on all of them I get the final turn instruction anything up to 300 yards before the turning - and I find it a right pain. Pistol Shoot Out Tom Tom can manage it, why can't Garmin?

More info on the 2.90 v 2.70 debate. I tried 2.90 and it was interesting on a route I know well, the unit directed me home, but did not tell me to keep left at a fork in the road, although the map showed it clearly. Going back to 2.70 and the voice prompt now tells me to keep left as I would expect.

I think there are some major issues with the 2.90 software, and I would be interested to know how Garmin are adressing this.

I would still not change the unit for any other as I think the size is ideal.

Here is waiting for 2.10
