Why is the speed limit warning roughly half the actual speed aloud, ie. when your driving into a 30mph limit, the warning is for 19mph?

Could you tell us what SatNav system that you are using and whether this happens all the time or just occasionally.

Regards,

I'm using a Garmin StreetPilot c310 and yes it happens all the time.

19mph in a 30mph limit
43mph in a 70mph limit

Sounds like KPH and MPH is being confused someplace:

19KPH = 30MPH
43KPH = 70MPH

I'd check your settings.

Sadly mathematics was always my weakest point, one of the reasons why I never chose aviation for my career!
