Where can I get a copy of the City Select Europe V7
The US site will only deliver to the US and the UK dealers on the list that I have contacted only keep the hardware.
I thought I might get it from Maplin since that is where I bought the unit, but it doesn't show on the site. |

Thanks man, that was a quick reply.
Hopefully the guys here will now cater for us. Especially as Maplin has sold over 2000 i3's!
I'll take on board your comments and see what happens when a new camera database file becomes available. |

Here's another question for the i3 gods...
Has anybody got or know off a comprehensive user guide for the i3 showing all the shortcuts, ways to customize display etc.
I found out by accident that you can set your current position as a favourite by holding in the wheel for a few seconds (useful if you frequently go to the same places and the satnav position is slightly incorrect).
There must be a guide out there somewhere? I have 2 Garmin ones, the quick ref. guide and the 34 page user manual. None of them mention advanced features.
Maybe ppl could post there finds here...
If we want i'll start:
To set your current position as a favourite: Hold down the wheel button. The current location will be saved and you can then rename it. |

Thanks, but just a bit expensive. Surely there must be cd's on the shelf somewhere. |

It's also useful to use when you park your car somewhere (like long term parking at an Airport) because you can navigate back to the point you marked - no more wondering where you left the car! 8) _________________ Gone fishing! |

I don't think so - I couldn't find anywhere in the UK. The only place that I found you could buy the CD was from a US dealer on Ebay - and then you're taking a risk on paying import duty, and the CD not having been used before.
I bought one in the end from www.globalpositioningsystems.co.uk as part of an auto navigation kit for the 76C/CS. It was the cheapest one I could find at £159 including VAT and P&P. You have to buy a new transflash card as well - I'd recommend a 512mb if you can - I had to get a 256mb as I needed it for tomorrow and the 512s haven't been released by SanDisk yet (www.mymemory.co.uk are pretty cheap & reliable, I've found).
Only other option is to wait for Garmin to release the European preloaded transflash cards they've promised. Although there will be 8 regions at £70 or so a throw, so works out cheaper buying CitySelect if you want more than a couple of areas in Europe.
Let us know if you do find somewhere cheaper for just the CD though. |

Count yourself lucky you don't live in Wales, like me... right the bottom of the list!!!
Still, wot a great piece of kit, eh? Congratulations to Garmin. |

thanks for the thought zogman, but we had just touched down as you posted. i3 working really well - although once we came unstuck as we didnt believe her and went wrong! we since have believed every word she has said!!
she got us to our hotel okay and has navigated us around Veronas narrow streets brilliantly so far, so no complaints from me - apart from there being far too much footie on italian tv, so boyf happily esconced in front of that.... |

The only times I have ever got lost with a GPS was when I didn't believe it and disregarded the directions.... still occasionally do it and it is (so far) always right. Not necessarily the best rout but it always gets you there. |

Question : How is mapping software updated on this. Can you downloads updates or do you have to go and buy the software again and how much does that cost ? |

The software is only as good as the day created.
There are daily changes to the UK roads, postcodes and addresses. I agree, for most people the mapping will be adequate for many years but it is out of date already. I know of at least a dozen errors/changes that have still not been amended some from around 3 years ago which I have reported. |
