Why not upgrade to Windows XP, its far more stable in my opinion to every version that went before it? Most hardware that came out prior to XP now has updated software to make it compatible
You can specify not to include 'unpaved' roads on the route planning on the i3 which basically means very minor single track roads. You can also set the i3 to 'Truck' mode which keeps the route to main roads.
I'm new to GPS but think I've been fortunate to buy a great product at my first attempt! |

Got mine from PC World and that's got a 256Mb card as well. It looks like they're all the same 'package', so I'd be surprised if it was a 128Mb card. I'm not sure the mapping provided would fit on a 128 card since MaFt tells me there's only about 2Mb on the 256 card left for POI's.(which is obviously plenty of room, before anyone points out how little memory POI's take!) |

yes, Me wil be fine. 98SE should be ok as it supports usb, but Me should be fine.
however, as pointed out ME is incredibly unstable. you can pick up an oem xp hoe for a bout 45 quisd (with purchase of a £2 mouse) from places like cclonline.com or aria.co.uk

I got a reply from Garmin saying this is not possible. If any problem with TransFlash, they can replace it. Even we cannot upgrade TransFlash unless we buy preloaded from Garmin.
Trapped !!!

There must be a way of making your own Transflash cards as Garmin can manage it!
The hardest thing is getting hold of a copy of City Select Europe v7
The first person to win the race to make their own workable Transflash card for the i3 let us all know
I probably won't use my i3 abroad but I love a challenge!
BTW my card is a 256 not a 128 as I earlier stated |

Thanks to those who replied to my queries above. I must be one of the few who haven't had many problems with ME! I don't really want to upgrade yet. After another e-mail to Garmin yesterday I have now been told that Windows 98 onwards is OK, so that now clears that up. The PC World website still states that the i3 is compatible with Windows 2000 and XP for some reason.
The tips regarding use of the i3 when caravanning are most helpful - the 'truck' setting should help a lot.
Thanks again,
AL |

I'm totally new to all this, and not very technical! Where do I find the .csv files to upload to my i3? I've downloaded the software from the maplin site (figured out that much by myself!)
Apologies in advance if this is a really dumb question - I need hand holding through all this!
Thanks,
Pamela |
