Off Line Traffic News - Traffic POIs for TomTom

Upgraded to version 4

The install whinged that I need to uninstall the old version first (which I didn't need to on the version 1 to 2 upgrade)

One for the wish list - could there be added to the right click menu the facility to stop the current update?

I have found that OTN is very tardy displaying the options dialogue whilst it is updating, and when you start the programme it immediatley launches into an update, so it would be beneficial if the current update can be stopped so that the options can be set.

I like the way the system tray icon now changes when it is updating so that you know what it is up to.

Pete,

Thanks for responding. The overlay files are there but TT5 doesn't show them as an option to tick. Have tried reducing the amount but still can't see it. As I said CheckPOInt sees the POI. Don't know what else to try.

Any help gratefully received.

Have you tried the basic stopping and starting of TT5? Failing that a soft rest of the PPC?

I find using TT3 that it does not like the files to be altered whilst it is running, so I exit TT3 before placing it on the cradle.

Make sure that you actually exit the program and not just use the "x" in the top right hand corner of the window. That X just closes the window and leaves TT3 running

Thanks for the advice. Have tried all of the above without success. Can't find any info on TT5 that would stop me seeing the POI as an option so don't know if there are any "hidden limitations" that may be causing this.

I have successfully included the UK traffic cameras etc but this one just doesn't want to show itself. A real pity as I have not experienced any problems with OTN and really want to use it.

Silly question, but u do have a viable *.ov2 file don't you? What size is it? It has successfully copied to your GB map directory intact hasn't it?

It is stating the bleeding obvious I know - but just checking!

Thanks for the suggestion. Always worth stating the obvious as I may have missed it. Unfortunately, the OV2 file is OK and can be seen as valid in CheckPOInt. The current size is 133KB and seems to be updating correctly. Pulling what little hair I have left out on this one as it has certainly got to be something simple(!)

Do you wanna go through, step by step, what you have done so far. Start from the viable ov2 & BMP files and tell us what you did with them and lets see if there is any reason why it isn't displaying.

What hardware/software are u using? Have you tried to disable all POI's except the traffic ones to see if that makes any difference? May make things clearer and you can re-enable them later.

I just use explore via Active Sync to drag and drop the files from the XP My Documents folder to my GB map directory on my SD card and they have all worked that way. I haven't tried the CheckPOInt software as yet.

If any of these aren't applicable then leave the field blank.

If you do not see all these fields then download the latest version from the delphi-dolphin url posted earlier.

sandymac - I'm sure there is a better way to see the POI's on your route but I cannot for the life of me remember where I saw it (may have been TTN3, I'm sure there was a checklist where you could enable/disable the PoI's you could see).

To view the PoI's once they have been copied over to the map folder, I go into the menu and choose browse map. Clicking on the magnifying glass allows you to see various option to look for - select PoI and the next screen that appears should be the five most recently used PoI's. If offlinetrafficnews isn't one of these click the arrow to see the full PoI category list. Once selected in here you should be presented with a list of the closest traffic PoI's.

Once I've done this I can then see the PoI's in the 3D Navigator view.

Thanks for your willingness to help. I have deleted all POIs but OTN and now have visibility. Obviously there is a restriction on not just viewing but on the amount that can be selected (if that makes sense).

Very big thank you to all who helped. Knew it had to be something simple so apologies.

Good news is that I now have a fully automated traffic management system running. Just need to find the limits on POI categories and determine what I don't need.

molchew - can you check your firewall settings? Try switching this off and trying to see if this is the issue (remember to turn it back on again!)

I have the same problem..It's very odd as the fact that the xml.log is full of traffic information would make you think that it had actually worked. Yet still the ov2 file is 0k.
