Is your Windows 32 bit or 64 bit?
I believe the problem is with 64 bit. I have a fully certified RTM version of Windows 7 64 bit, Enterprise Edition

As it said in my note I take the usb cable from the TomTom 950 and insert it into a usb port on my Intel computer i.e. a direct connection to the PC.
