I just assumed that when it realised that you've gone wrong it should calculate the best route from that point. It seems that it needs a nudge!

The magnet is actually on the GPS. The plate is just metal, so it shouldn't be too difficult to find a ferrous plate to stick on with a bit of double sided tape.
