I religously kept every scrap of paper that was in the box including some irrelevent stuff but alas no yellow slip!

According to the leaflet I kept from the supplier the 310D (Deluxe) has certain additional features over the normal 310, one of which is European street level mapping ... |

If there is no route planned, once there is a GPS fix you should see a scrolling map.
To ensure there is no route go to the main menu (2nd page I think) and tap on the 'Clear route' icon.
