Complete and utter Garmin newbie here so please be patient:
OK so I got my old TomTom .xlsx file and turned it into a .csv file. First mistake was to get the Long & Lat columns mixed up so my UK POIs are just off the north east tip of the African continent!
OK So I switch Long & Lat columns and use a new POI name for test purposes and yes I think that it works.
However, I'm unable to delete the original POI category using POI Loader or even manually deleting the .gpi file when the PND is connected to the mac.
Possible reasons:
1. First POI category was using an underscore "_" instead of a space (i.e. Jersey_2017)
2. Is it because Im using a Mac?
I've tried switching off but haven't worked out how to do a hard (factory) reset.
By the way, every time that I switch of the unit it asked me to accept the EULA (End User Licence Agreements) is there anyway of stopping it from asking about EULAs overtime I switch it off?
Any (useful) suggestions?

EULA message will 'go away' after you have been for a drive around a bit. Damn annoying isn't it. |

If you delete the POI file you shouldn't see the POIs but the fact you're on a mac is the clue. You need to empty the trash otherwise your Garmin will pull it out of there. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

It is a Mac feature. See Darren's Post Here. _________________ Richard

Hi M8TJT, sussamb, and Oldboy,
Many thanks for your replies. I still consider myself a Mac newbie even after 8 months. As far as Garmin well I'm a complete idiot because we all know that I didn't RTFM! So all of your advice is very much appreciated!

As you have guessed, so far Ive just armchair tested the unit. I'm hoping to do a real life test with the Garmin later on today. Yes you're right the EULA message is very annoying.

Ah, that was spot on.
I was pulling my hair out whilst the Mac was pulling the POI / GPI file from the trash. That's a damn annoying feature of the Mac. I use the trash as a last chance backup - if I shouldn't have deleted something then II can at least retrieve it from the trash, but not anymore!

Thanks for the link, I wasn't aware of the Dot Underscore Mac "problem". However I'm not sure that this is it as it's just the underscore and not the dot and underscore combined.
I think that the underscore may be a red herring as it harks back to the early TomTom days when TomTom units sometimes didn't like a space in the POI's file names but an underscore was acceptable. Ever since, I have used underscores instead of spaces in my TomTom POI filenames and on the TomTom SatNav the underscore has always been displayed as a space.

You can also ditch the EULA messages by removing the files. (Backup first).
That's what Garmin told me to do on my first Garmin 50, years ago, when it refused to disappear, as it should have done, after I online registered it. _________________ Satnav:

Thanks K,
I have now registered the Garmin 770LMT-D on line, hopefully that will do the job. I'm hoping to take it our for a spin shortly so that mat fix it as well, that's what M said anyway.

I registered the Garmin via Express (as already mentioned above) and then went for a short (10 mile drive) yesterday.
Switched on the Garmin this morning and the EULA messages are still there.
What file do I need to delete in order to stop the EULA messages from appearing?

Just realised we could be talking different messages.
There is an initial message that has the 'Agree' bar. That is non removeable, but, you don't need to press it and it will auto disappear after about a minute once car movement is detected. _________________ Satnav:
