For anyone who has lost the DEM map it's now available from http://www.garminservice.de/downloads/basemap/DEM/gmapdem.img
Note this is only aimed at those models that previously had a DEM map which a map update has removed. It may or may not work on other models.
In all cases it needs to be placed in the hidden .system folder. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

I've grabbed it so I can put it on DropBox alongside the Converter.
Just in case they pull it. _________________ Satnav:

When I download and try to open, it tells me that the disc image file is corrupted.
Any idea what this might mean? |

It should be placed in the .system file on the Garmin device. It can't be opened using a PC. _________________ Paul |

Plus, you will need to temporarily enable Windows hidden and system files to see where it needs to go.
The same procedure as you 'should' be doing to perform a complete device backup when you first get it. _________________ Satnav:

And in answer to the question "Does it work on a 2569 or 2699?" the answer is No. |

Whilst not linked to the missing DEM files has anyone noticed that Garmin has moved away from the Worldwide AutoRoute DEM Basemap NR5.01 provided by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration?
They've used this for many years but the latest DRiveLuxe50 I purchased now uses Basemap NR2.00 instead of the file mentioned above (yet an earlier DriveLuxe50 has NR5.01).
Somewhat confusingly, two 'newer' (manufacturing dates) Drive50 World Traveller editions still use the NR5.01 file.
Anyone able to shed any light on the changes. _________________ DriveLuxe 51 LMT D - Firmware 6.70
