Looks very much like what we already have !
I don't see anything to make me want to change my 2599. _________________ Satnav:

Quote: | The entire Garmin Drive lineup boasts a number of driver alerts to encourage safer driving and situational awareness. This includes warnings for upcoming sharp curves, railroad or animal crossings, alerts for users driving the wrong-way on a one-way street and more. Drivers also receive red light and speed camera alerts as well as vital timesaving traffic information with fast-approaching traffic jam notifications. For longer routes, a fatigue warning alert suggests potential break times and available rest areas or places to stop. | iGO has been doing most of that for several years using Navteq maps.
About time someone caught up.
How strange is it when you have a look at susamb's second link, study the pricing then click to compare the 50s, the price goes up by £20 |

Never spotted that.
The only feature that would get me interested is if the DriveAssist with dashcam uses a TA cable instead of the washing line. _________________ Satnav:

I'm surprised at the RRP, cheapest with digital traffic, now a must IMO, is a mouth watering £179.99, current nuvis are much cheaper. I suspect they'll be a price drop very quickly after launch with some very good deals on the current nuvi line _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

I have to say that that when I've had enough of my current Garmin, I might move over to using my (Android) phone. HERE Maps for Life ( https://maps.here.com/ ) are free, good and downloadable.
I really like the portrait format when driving along, and with a good 4G signal, waypoints and destinations are very easy to enter while out and about, though the disadvantage can be additional cost when out of the UK. |

True, but there's no need to buy any more hardware if you have a modern smartphone. |

Well that's true if a smart phone does what you want, although I'm not planning to replace my nuvi anytime soon
But at the moment a smart phone doesn't cut it for me. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

I have a fairly big LG G3, so the screen size not an issue.
There's lots of GPS maps to choose from - HERE, ViaMichelin, Waze, Google.…
The "active" maps like Google and Waze can be heavy on the power consumption. |

I find that the phones I've tried get very hot when used to constantly update the GPS position. Surely that can't do them much good?
My HTC ONE m7 used to lockup after about half an hours CA use. When I took it from the cradle it was very very hot.
Not tried my new ONE m9 as I'm quite happy with the 2599 and the 44x44 icons which make approaching cameras really stick out. _________________ Satnav:

Looking at the Garmin website (thanks to sussamb for the link), the higher two units in Drive range don't make sense to my simple mind!
I might be wrong, but apart from the lower battery life and the slightly different display, the DriveAssist 50LMT-D at £279.99 looks to be better value for money than the DriveLux 50LMT-D at £299.99.
Surely they should be the other way round; or is the DriveAssist an 'improved' derivative of an older unit?
As it stands, I find, with the descriptions given very little would attract me to higher priced unit.
Of course, there may be something I didn't notice...

It's more aesthetics really. Fancy casing and a powered mount - admittedly the magnetic powered mounts the NuviCam has it welcome in daily use but hard to justify the extra price point _________________ DriveLuxe 51 LMT D - Firmware 6.70
