And doesn't look like they've decided to add many / any more active lane guidance, which is criminal considering they advertise it as a "feature" but driving 40-50k per year have seen it once!

Be grateful ... I think it's awful and wish I could switch it off, thankfully I've only seen it twice Twisted Evil

A switch would be useful if there was any where - it's the only reason I still update my Garmin over my TomTom!

Download finished (3 hours) average 650kbps. Must be Garmins servers that has bandwidth issues?

Couple of minutes building then 20 minutes installing which it's doing now.

Then I've opted for the updated traffic text languages as well.

Mine took less than an hour ... so I don't believe it's a garmin issue.

Hi Xtraseller

Thanks for the Heads up - now downloaded successfully - one difference this time.

When I downloaded 2014.30 last year I downloaded it via Garmin Express on to the microsd card, as it said that insufficient space was available - this time it has just copied it to the GPS itself, showing 778 mb free of 3.72 gig, and the microsd card is empty showing 7.27 gig free of 7.27 gig!!

So something has happened in this download that is smaller than last time, and it automatically downloads just to the GPS - presumably?

cheers

Allan

If there's space Express will put the map on the satnav itself. Just check it has installed the map you were expecting, not Western Europe for example if you wanted the whole of Europe.

As far as I can tell there is no reduction in size, so either you have a smaller map area this time or space has been freed up somewhere along the line.

Hi Sussamb

Thanks for the advice - It installed Western Europe over Western Europe - and two other items that were on offer.

I checked a couple of routes - and set up another - and they seemed to run okay (static in the house not out in the car - too b.. cold for that!!)

cheers

They've probably been busy removing all the active lane guidance that was is their Navigon / Nokia map data! Rolling Eyes

Well, something has been removed - that's for sure - as I entered on this forum what I was left with last time, and why it had to go on to the microsd card, and I have more space left now than then!!

cheers

Hi Sussamb

This is part of what I put on the forum last time, on 28 October, and just after a piece from you !!

http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=91556

"After doing the update I checked on my pc as to what was available on both the 1440T and the sd card - it told me that it had 2.15 gb free of 3.62 gb on the 1440T, and 5.04 gb free of 7.27 gb on the sd card, indicating that the download was 2.23 gb, and just too large for the remaining capacity on the 1440T"

Any thoughts - all of my favourites were still there, and I added another one last night as a test - plus I haven't deleted any superfluous files yet!!

cheers
