Why do I always have to reset all the ogg files after updating the camera database?

What do you mean by 'reset the ogg files'?

Presuming you have a TT, which one?

How are you updating the files on your unit?

As long as the ogg files remain in situ, the warnings are handled by the Mapsettings file, which doesn't need changing/restoring very often.

A step-by-step might be helpful, in tracking down your problem. Smile

Hi Richard,
I am copying and pasting the new camera database files into the map folder but I then have to allocate a warning ogg files to each one as they no longer have one attached to each file. As you say I thought you should be able to just update the camera data base and the ogg files would automatically work when you restarted the TomTom. I have a TomTom Rider 2.
Regards
Barry

Something is awry here then as you would not, ordinarily, need to re-configure the alerts when updating the database.

The only time this should be required is when you update the map.

Can you walk us through what you are doing? You should just be downloading the latest database, un-zipping and then copy/pasting the new database files to your device.

Hi Darren,
That will be it then, I have updated the maps from TomTom this week. Thanks for your help.

In which case, as per our FAQ, if you take a copy/backup of the mapsettings.cfg file (located in your installed map folder), that contains all your alert settings and save it someplace safe on your computer.

Then, if you ever lose them, be that due to a new map, or a glitch, you can copy that file back to your TomTom and all will be well again.
