Is Navigator the only app that can make the .itn files is uses for itinerary mode? It would be nice to export from something like Autoroute. If TomTom made a similar PC app which could export to .itn, I'd buy it!

Funny you should say that. I have done it Thumbs Up

As soon as I got my TTN3 upgrade I created a .itn file and I have now added it to version 3.01 of my POIConverter program. The new version of POIConverter will be released soon. It will import a route from AutoRoute, MapSource and Memory-Map Navigator and write it in .itn format. However, because of slight differences in the mapping it is advisable to examine the placement of the imported Drive-by points in TTN3. The Itinerary creation/editing features provided by TomTom are very good and it is easy to select Drive-by points, look at them on the map and adjust them as required.

and now here is your chance to try it :D

I have just posted POIConverter v3.01 on my website http://rjdavies.users.btopenworld.com in the Programs | POIConverter area. It will read and write TTN3 Itinerary files but check that the transferred Drive-by points etc are where you want them to be. I have used it to set a preferred route, but I needed to tweak some of the points in TTN3. For example, if the transferred point is on the wrong side of a dual carriageway then the TTN router will find some way of passing through it.

The new version also supports Excel files, but at the moment there is a problem associated with multiple Excel file reads/writes. I am waiting for a bugfix to the library that I use.

Wizzo,

Sorry to hear that you are having a problem. I have come across this before and was unable to resolve it because when the .axe file was sent to me I was able to read it without any trouble.

Create a file named debug.yes in the same folder as POIConverter.exe then rerun the program. This should produce a file debug.txt in the program folder which might help me track down what is wrong. I could also try your .axe file if you emailed it to me.

I would like to find out why POIConverter fails on some systems.

Wizzo,

Was the map file still open in AutoRoute when you ran POIConverter? With AutoRoute 2001 on my XP system it would work either way, but perhaps it is different with AR 2004.

Wizzo,

I think that I have tracked down the problem. It appears to be associated with spaces in the path to the program name ST2GPX. Please try this

Copy the POIConverter folder (and subfolder) from c:\program files\richard davies\ to c:\ and run POIConverter from there. Please let me know if this works.

Sorry that it didn't work first time. I will remove the link to the program from my website until I have solved the problem.

Wizzo,

I have just posted POIConverter version 3.02 in the Programs | POIConverter area on my website http://rjdavies.users.btopenworld.com

The new version will install into the C:\Richard_Davies\POIConverter folder. The spaces in the original path name caused ST2GPX to fail, although I can't really understand why. I will pass on my findings to the author of ST2GPX to see if he can help.

Oldie,

Sorry you have had such a one sided conversation so far I've been at work and accessing the site is too slow via my mobile and PPC with the sites having server speed problems.

Anyway it looks like you have done a lot without me.

Before I load ver 3.02 would you like me too make and send you the error file ? I'm also happy to send you my axe if it helps your understanding and yes I'm using autoroute 2004 and no the file was not open in autoroute.

Thanks very much for all the time and trouble you have gone to in provided us all with a great program. Thumbs Up

Wizzo,

Thank you for offering to send the files but there is no need now as I think that I have got to the bottom of the problem. I have just heard from a user in Slovenia who first flagged up the problem with version 2 and 3.02 works for him now :D

Version 3.02 uses a different default directory which gets round the problem. I have contacted the author of ST2GPX and he is working on an improved version which should get rid of the bug.

Please let me know if you have any problems.
