You don't seriously expect TomTom to update that dinosaur program? They have dropped development long ago in favour of Navigator. Once the map coverage of Navigator has improved (MRE) there is no more need for Route Planner anyhow.

RoutePlanner is obsolete - as Lutz says, in Europe, it's replaced by the Major Roads of Europe map, which is included in any European version of Navigator 3 (you don't have to buy the soon to be relaunched for Navigator 3 European maps package to get it, though if you do, you will have detailed maps of every country in the pack - the same maps as you have in your Navigator 3 pack for the whole of the European coverage area).

In the USA, RoutePlanner is really superseded by Navigator 2 USA (which will be replaced by Navigator 3 USA within the next two months).

About the only thing to be said for RoutePlanner is that it's cheap - but as the maps are some years old now, I think they're getting increasingly worthless. I can't think there'll be any more updates (if there was an upgrade deal, it was to Navigator 1, which is around two years past now).

If you don't want to pay the cost of Navigator, you might like to see if TomTom Maps Online offers the functionality you want - though the chances are that it won't.

No! He was asking for information.
BBB like me probably assumed that it may be worth using a few iPAQ points on this RoutePlanner software as they have recently been added to the iPAQ Choice Store. Also available are TomTom City Maps and Falk 3-in-1 City Guides.

Obviously if they are obsolete then there is no point wasing points on them.[/code]

I think it's a shame that RoutePlanner has been added to the iPAQ Choice program - whilst it's nice for people to be able to acquire software for free (or at least minimal charge), I think it may mislead people as to what modern GPS software can do.

I'm pretty sure that RoutePlanner doesn't have voice navigation. If TomTom wanted to, they could release a version of Navigator with just Major Roads of Europe that was upgradeable to a full single country version of Navigator and wouldn't accept the Western Europe maps package without that upgrade (or, at least, needed an additional fee paying on top of the cost of the Western Europe maps). This could, of course, be an 'online only' product (at around 100MB, possibly small enough for download), with the upgrade to the full version of Navigator 3 via the same sort of upgrade web site as the Navigator 2 to Navigator 3 upgrade programme.

So far as RoutePlanner USA goes, a hunt round the TomTom site last night suggests that Navigator 3 USA (which is due to appear later this month - that is, probably towards the end of May) has a Major Roads of USA map.
