:D
Hi being an owner of a Quest1 for 2 years now and having driven across the USA from coast to coast (difficult since you need to limit the amount of information you transfer due to its paltry disc space) and all over Europe, I decided to treat myself to a Quest 2. There is a mistake to make, so I returned it as unfit for purpose (its too slow for the job now)
The NUVI 370
So instead I went out and purchased a Garmin Nuvi 370 and I have to say it is so impressive, full Europe NT v9 and North America NTv8 preloaded, very fast calculation on routes, if you miss a turn, the new route is ready within 3 seconds. The turn announcer tells you the road names to use which is very helpful.
The unit packs additional features such as Bluetooth and voice capability allowing you to connect to your mobile (so the sound quality is not fantastic since the person at the other end gets a little echo) and free UK traffic master allow you to avoid hold-ups.
I was quite eager to try my new unit and since I live remote didn't hold out much hope of the unit working 100% here.
The Pros
The unit found the satellites in 30 seconds and was ready to run.
The touch screen is excellent and very simple, if a little reflective in the car.
The cradle housing to place the unit or remove it is very slick and easy (in comparison to the Quest.
The turn by turn and road announcer is spot on if a little distorted at high volumes.
The recalculation is sooooo fast, miss a turn and within 3 seconds a new route is on the display.
The Garmin lock feature is an excellent addition allowing you to protect the unit.
The Traffic Master allows you to receive traffic updates and feed them in to your route.
The Speed camera database POI work on this unit (I tried them on the Quest2 and it found nothing).
There are lots of additional features such as an MP3 player, audio book, translator and city guide available on the unit.
The Cons
The screen could be a little less reflective.
The volume needs to be a little less distorted at full volume (although it doesn't affect it too much.
The additional features like the MP3 player are nice, but probably a little over the top.
No option to download routes from the PC to it, unlike the Quest.
The unit is not waterproof
All told I am very impressed with this little unit, the screen is very clear and the system very easy to use.
I would have to say that this is better than the Tom Tom 910 series, which is bigger and bulkier (so the Tom Tom has 12Gb of free space to use, but at the end of the day all you want it to do is guide you to your destination).
At a current cost of around £300 to £330 I have to say this is the best system I have used.
