Menu items disappeared on one XL after installing Navcore 8

I have (eventually) managed to install Navcore 8 but my altimeter has disappeared as a menu item.
I also tried to install SkipWaypoint and it does not appear either.
I notice that Roberto's altimeter file is a CAP file with a file extension of .cap while Skipwaypoint (from webazar) is a cabinet file with .cab extension. Not sure what that means.
Both files are (I think) correctly installed in the SdkRegistry folder.
Anyone else encountered this or have ideas for a fix?

It's probably just a simple case of "they don't work with v8" I'm afraid.
