Help.

My out of warranty 910 will not start. I have tried resetting, but it feels as if the reset switch has stuck in as I cannot feel any movement, even using a small pin. I use the PGPSW camera database and it has been working fine since the last update so I know that is not the problem.

Now, when I press the on/off button the green external power light illuminates and it goes out when I release it.

If, as I suspect, it has died what is the best course of action to get it repaired as I recently updated the maps.

Contact TomTom using the phone number 0845 161 0009 and you might be surprised that your device is still under waranty, it cannot be more than 2 years old at this point. Most TomTom device upto recent ones had a two year waranty period, check the small print that came with the device and give them a ring in the morning - Mike

Thank you Mike

It never occurred to me that it was covered for two years, I have checked the docs and it is!! Us TOGS always keep the box in case anything has to be sent back, and even better I still have the original receipt.

I shall be on the phone to Holland tomorrow

Thanks again

Martin

Martin, as a tip if you can scan the receipt or photograph it with a digital camera it will be worth doing so as they will request proof of purchase, never send the original receipt off with the device. If you can do the above, when they (TT) ask for it you can simply attach it to an e-mail and send it to them - Mike

If it's not too late the UK support number is:
UK Support number is:

0845 161 0009

Monday - Friday: 08:00 to 20:00 GMT
(every first Tuesday of the month: 09:00 to 20:00 GMT)

Not sure if this is ACTUALLY in the UK as the FAX number they give is a DUTCH number:

FAX - 0031 208 501 072

Thanks for your help Mike and Andy

Tom Tom agree it is faulty and I am now awaiting the mysterious empty box they are sending for me to return it in. They actually ask for a copy of the receipt and suggest you do not send the original, perhaps they read these forums?

In addition to the USA and Europe maps on the hard drive I have a more recent UK and Ireland Map as I was too tight to upgrade the Europe Map. I asked Tom Tom that if a new hard drive was required would the map be replaced. She said that if it was not there I could download it again. How does that work then, my understanding is you only have a limited amount of days after purchase to perform the download. Yes I know i should have backed it up but I did one for the device when it was new and never did another one.

EDIT It's OK, I have just found the map in My Tom Tom Homes Map Folder

Martin

Unless it has changed recently, any maps you purchase on-line should be available to re-download for one year after purchase.
