Possible to make POI on PC and then transfer to GPS?

Hi

I'm thinking about buying a Garmin 350 as I got the taste of having a GPS when I was traveling around Italy recently (I just borrowed one from a friend). But one function that I wish I had on the one that I borrowed was the option of defining my own POI on a map on the PC and then transferring them to the GPS. Is this something that is possible on the Garmin? Before a vacation I like to plan the trip by putting markers in e.g. Google My Maps but I guess you can't transfer information like that....

You can certainly do it on the PC to create itineraries for the TomTom range.
There's "Tyre" which uses Google Earth, and
THIS TOPIC describes a brilliant way to do it using Google Maps.

Once you've got the TomTom itinerary file, I'm sure there is a converter program that would re-save it in whatever format you need for Garmin ("POI Edit" might do it)
