Guys

This is my first post so go easy on me.

I have just installed TTN5 (with 5,21 patch) on my XDA mini S. I am using the great britain map v562. I used to own TT5 mobile for my nokia 3230.

The system on my mobile was configured by a friend and allowed a full post code search. This allowed me for example to input LS11 0NE and then put the house number to then navifate to that location.

When i do a post code search in TTN5 it only allows me to search for LS11 0 instead of LS11 0NE. I then need to enter the street name and the house number.

This has caused a problem on a road that ran between 2 places with duplication of street name and house numbers 2 miles apart. Although the post codes both started WF1 9 they both ended differentley.

I know there probably is a way to solve this or add the functionality and I have searched the forums and can't find anything.

Thanks in advance for your help.

You need to create a folder on your SD card. Rename it to 'TOMTOM'.

You don't anything in the folder and it remains empty of any data.

Apparently, this is what you need to do. It worked for me,

Baz is correct, but just in case you already have that folder, you may not have noticed that there is a second menu page for choosing a location, and the Postcode icon is on that page. You can type the shortened postcode under Address, but need to click the Postcode icon to enter it in full.

I now have the extra folder named "TOMTOM" in caps with no space and I am using the menu on the 2nd page "Navigate to... Postcode". But i can still only search "WF9 3" etc. The folder is located in the main part of my storage card, not in the map folder, is this correct?

So what else do i need to do?

Make sure that you've got a folder on your card named ZIP with the file "Great_britain.Postal in it.

Does anyone know where this file is located? Is it on my tom tom CD or do I need to download it from somewhere? I have the CD at home but i'm at work at the moment.

So how did you do it?... I have the same problem.
I have an empty TOMTOM directory on the SD card, but not ZIP and don't know where the 'great_britain.postal' file is or should be.

Run the TomTom installer package on the PC, and one of the options is to install maps, there is a small check box under the first line which states "Install" postcodes, by de-fault it is unchecked and easy to miss when you are are rushing to get the thing working, select this option and the install will copy the files across to the device, sorry I canlt be more specific as I don't have the PC with me at the moment - Mike
