Hi All,
Just got a Quest 2 and so far, am very happy with it.
I've painstakingly used City Select NT to arrange a route that I want to take on my upcoming motorcycle trip from San Francisco to Los Angeles. I've ensured that every road is one I want to traverse.
My question is... if I go off route for a bit (say to get gas or something), will the Quest 2 recalculate the route on the fly and totally screw up my pre-programmed route? Or will it get me back to my route and continue to follow it as planned?
- Thanx in advance!

That all depends on how you set the Quest2 up. You can have is never recalculate on its own (so you have to do it manually), have the Quest2 ask you every time (my setting), have it recalculate automatically with a voice prompt or recalculate automatically silent.
Just set it to prompted recalculation and ignore the question. Then drive to the location you left the route and just continue to follow it. If the Quest recalculates the route, it will use all your via points and the route will be probably just like you want. However, since Mapsource and the Quest use different parameters to calculate a route, the route can also be different. _________________ Robert Elsinga =8- )

Robert, thanks for your reply. So a few more questions:
1) If I set the Quest to not re-calculate, what happens if I go off route? It waits for me to get bac on route to continue guiding me?
2) What if I stop for lunch and take the Quest off the cradle and then want to continue the route after powering the Quest down? Can I pick up a route in the middle of it? My pre-programed route is from my home to another location...
Robert - love your web pages. Thanks for all the Quest info - very helpful!

If you don;t recalculate, it starts to navigate you as soon as you get on your original route.

The Quest will remember those things in between power cycles IIRC.
