Checkpoint 3.2

Hi all.
I am pulling my hair out trying to install checkpoint 3.2 on my hp2410 using win mob 2003.
i have got to the point where i enter my email and validation code which it accepts ok.
i can then refresh which it does by conecting to the web site and it receives a list of overlays no problem.
i then select what overlays i want, in this case, speed cameras and click synchronize.
it then looks as though its again connecting to the checkpoint web site but on my pda screen an error message flags up saying "an unknown error occured"
now i dont have any additional software on my pc like poi edit etc.
do i need that?.
my pda simply sits in the cradle and connects to the internet via that.
i have the settings set to connect directly which it seems to do ok for the validation code so why am i having problems using the sync.
surely someone must have a clue.
pls help.
