Is there one that can be used to cause CamerAlert to close/exit programmatically?
(I know I could use Car UI mode, but this is problematic with Lollipop as, whilst in Car UI mode, the phone's home button no longer returns it to the standard launcher's home screen)

That's what I assumed, but, sorry, 'Android intent' doesn't make sense to me in your context. What is an 'Android intent'?
So your post reads 'Is there an Android intent that can be used to cause CamerAlert to close/exit programmatically?"
It's probably me being thick. (Nothing new there then) |

No reason you should know unless you're an Android developer or use apps like Tasker/Llama/Automagic to automate features of your phone.
http://developer.android.com/guide/components/intents-filters.html
Having this capability would enable me to automatically exit CamerAlert under conditions I set in one of the above apps (like when I leave my car) |

Thanks for the explanation wibbly. I understand now. Perhaps I should have engaged Google before opening my mouth. |

No problem M8TJT. I've not seen any updates to CamerAlert for some time (8 months?). Is it still in active development, do you know, or just supported with maintenance/bug fix releases when necessary? |

I suspect it's end of life because I submitted a support request ages ago, submitted logs but heard no more.
For me it was freezing randomly on a HTC One m7 but usually after about half an hour.
I suspected overheating but I never did get a reply from the logs. I've seen reports about the HTC One with it's metal case not dissipating the heat as well as plastic. _________________ DashCam:

That would be a shame. I don't think there are any other ways to leverage the speed camera database on Android, are there? It's not as if the camera database can can be imported into Google Maps or Waze, can it? |

Well, he still seems to be in the development stage, but I'm pretty sure he's a human, not Android. I could be wrong. _________________ Dennis

You can still put the database onto Sygic for Android if you have the old version. I posted a link a while ago, but whether it's still available, I don't know. You can put the cams on the new version, but they have removed the ability to set alerts for user POIs
EDIT. WRT Android intent, I have decided to take the easy option with brain surgery. |

There isn't currently one but it would be relatively easy to add one. I will ask MaFt to add it to the list. _________________ Lutz

This is something I'd find very useful, I can get CA to start up when my phone connects to the car Bluetooth, but I can't for the life of me find a way to shut down CA automatically when the phone disconnects from the car. _________________ Galaxy Note 4 / TomTom GO : CamerAlert : CoPilot |
