Is there a way to force Garmin 2699 to use Moterways (or give preference to Motorways first)? This may be a longer option but can be much quicker. Motorways is NOT avoided in Avoidances. |

On the rare occasions I've used my Garmin from Heathrow to Malvern, with quickest selected, it always takes me round the motorway route which is slightly quicker but about 30 miles longer.
What is your A and B so we can check what ours do. _________________ Satnav:

As K says we need an example to see what may be going wrong but there isn't a way to force your Garmin to choose motorways, just to avoid them. I assume you have fastest rather than shortest selected in routing?
Also your model also has traffic trends and traffic avoidance options. Its often the case that those affect routing from what you might expect. To be sure that's not having an effect either turn them off or run the route in simulation mode at home to see if the route is different in any way.
I run my Garmin with traffic trends turned off and traffic avoidance set to prompted so I can decide whether to deviate or not. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

I've moaned to Garmin many times that there should be an option such as "easy" which gives priority to motorways and dual carriageways. The route may not be the fastest or the shortest, but it avoids suburbs/towns and narrow(er) roads.
(It's an option on IGO8 and is brilliant.)

It's also an option in MapPoint.
You can rate different types of roads and then tell it to calculate via your preferred roads, then tweak it and recalculate. _________________ Satnav:

Apologies for the late response - I was away.
I was travelling from Harrogate to Epsom and it insisted on going via A1. Eventually I had to cut accross to Hemel Hempstead I wanted M1 and then M25 to travel via Leatherhead.
Whilst on A1, I tried twice to cut accross to M1 and it kept on insisting on A1. |

Mine uses the M1.
Takes me down to Doncaster, then M18, M1, M25.
Do you have TravelTrends selected or your device set to autoroute around traffic. Both might have impacted on the day.
Try calculating a trip now on the device. Does it still use the A1? If so then do a master reset to see if that changes anything. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |
