Hi guys,
I have just purchased the new Hewlet Packard 1930 Pocket PC and ViaMichelin MapSonic GPS package. The software states that it supports user addable/editable "points-of-interest"...does this mean I can use it to detect speed cameras?
If yes then how do I go about doing this?
The package is brilliant so far and everything works nicely. Just would be nice to get the location of those pesky speed cameras integrated as well.
Any ideas guys?
Thanks in advance! |

There is unfortunately no third party software available for Via Michelin. Hence no speed camera's as POI.
The POI's that you can add yourself are stored in a file called ppoi.poi found in your mapsonic folder. If someone would be able to open this file as a database I guess it would be a start to importing a speed camera POI like available at Tom Tom. But perhaps more things are necessary.
Anyway, in order to have the "home made" POI's also available on your pocket PC, simply copy the Ppoi.poi file to the corresponding directory on your pocket pc |

Make sure you have told it to use COM port 9.
Took me ages to figure that out |

Thank you, that works fine, I had tried up to 7 but thought not worth going any further!!
Can't quite understand why the instructions don't tell you that! |

It is mentioned in the instructions but it's kinda hard to find...and is in incredibly small print!
Glad it worked for ya! |
