|
|
My live 750 is overdue for a map upadate which I will especialy need now as going to France soon on holiday. Live services also need updating.
Considering TT are only offering 4 map updates for £67 and live services for £47, is it worth going for a 1005 eu live which has free lifetime map updates and 3 years live services. The device would cost £189.
Is the processing faster on the 1005, i.e when turning off a roundabout, instruction to turn off before driving past exit! ?
Are the graphics better on the 1005 ?

The 1005 LOOKS better than the 750.
Apart from that I wouldn't get one as a replacement, just no real advances and at least one downgrade (Home replaced by My Drive). If Home doesn't bother you and you don't care about making your own backups, then go for it, but perhaps you should look at Andy-P's list of lost features first. _________________ Dennis

After looking at that list I think your right Dennis.
Its seems to me like Tomtom are trying to sell later models with less features but with free lifetime maps, to owners of older models who have to pay high map prices to keep up to date !

Map update prices are "interesting".
Last December I bought 12 months update service for my GO550 Live, for £22.48.
Last month, I bought 12 months plus six months extra free map update service for my GO520, for £35.96. I just can't resist free offers!! _________________ Dennis

Tomtom have now offered me a year of map updates for £52.47 so took up offer and keep the 750.
As I am planning to tow a caravan through France the Itinerary planning is a must to avoid small lanes, low bridges using the great ITN converter for route creation. Not possible withe the later models.
The way forward for TT would be better ability to plan and view routes on a computer or tablet and the the TT device would stick to that!
