Just made copies of my mapsettings.cfg file and all my added content (.OV2, .PNG, .OGG etc.).
I seem to remember that when they last updated iOS it wiped all of these!
So if iOS 6 arrives tonight, it may be worth making a backup now before you lose them ! |

Recent destinations etc all O.K. ! |

It probably just needs Disk Aid to update to work with iOS 6 devices?

My TomTom app is working fine, my POI's and warnings unaffected.
If what you mean is that a TomTom app update is due, I would firstly make a backup of the current app, usually found in your iTunes/Mobile Applications folder on your computer and store safely in another location.
If you update the app and then want to revert to this version, you just need to delete the Updated app and replace with this backed up copy of the app.
Then delete the application from your iPhone/iPad.
From iTunes on your computer type in the name of the old app ticking the check box and synchronising with your device.
Hey presto you will be back to the original version!
I will avoid updating the TomTom app until I know that disk aid is working again. |

How annoying is this going to be.
My colleague is getting her iPhone 5 tomorrow and I'm having her old iPhone 4 for a steal so that is good on the 1 hand but the problem I can see looming fast on the horizon is she has updated it to IOS6 already so she can backup and migrate to the new phone tomorrow !!
Even with a factory reset it will still be on IOS6, so I'll have to do the same on my 3GS to be able to backup and restore.
Do you see where I am going? A Restore to the iPhone 4 will not bring the Custom POIs with it? Well it didn't when I did a backup and restore when I was having problems with my 3GS. I had to diskaid the custom POIs and sounds back on afterwards.
Lets hope somebody cracks it in the next week _________________ Samsung S22 Android, Google Maps & Camera Alert |

Looks like there is a new version of Diskaid out (5.4) I quote from the changelog
Current Version: DiskAid 5.4
Release date: September 13, 2012
New in this Version:
Fully iOS 6 and iPhone 5 compatible
Here's hoping that does the trick? I may update my 3GS (I will need to anyway to migrate to new phone) and give it a try. _________________ Samsung S22 Android, Google Maps & Camera Alert |

I used v5.4, no way.
The support says: Restart Computer and Device. |

I did the update and get the same.
It does seem to be a permissions thing because try and delete a file and it says "permission denied" you can however copy to the documents folder?
I'm sure some of the clever bods will work out what to do. _________________ Samsung S22 Android, Google Maps & Camera Alert |

Likely due to the new sandboxing and increased security. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I have some possibly good news for you!
I have been trying all morning (with the help of apple technical) to clone over my 4S contents to my new iPhone 5.
It initially refused to restore from the backup of my 4S, throwing up an error message
By a process of elimination I got it to work and here is how...
1 Get your old device connected to iTunes and rename it to the standard "iPhone" anything else I tried caused problems later.
2 remove (by unchecking the tick boxes) all the music, books, etc, these should be retained on your computer within iTunes, this will be make the backup far smaller.
3 do a further backup and check in the edit/ preferences/ devices that you have a backup called "iPhone"
4 then connect you new iPhone 5 and after running through the basic instructions on screen, get to restore from backup.
5 pick the "iPhone" backup and let it synchronise.
Et Voila!
It copied over all my settings, text messages etc.
Most importantly it copied TomTom with all it's POI's, custom warnings etc.
So much less hassle from having to start from scratch!!!
Once it has synchronised the first time you can then re-tick all the boxes and copy over music, contacts, books etc |

Great, thanks. Although I'm not as lucky as you my friend I'm moving from a 3GS to a 2nd hand iPhone 4, but hopefully the principal is the same.
I feel so cheap
While it will be great to at least get the current POIs over we're still stuck with these and cannot update the speed cameras etc. Plus when the next upgrade for TomTom appears it is likely to wipe them all permanently.
I fear Jail-braking may be the only solution if indeed even that allows access? _________________ Samsung S22 Android, Google Maps & Camera Alert |

The crucial thing for making sure that you can restore from the backup, seems to be to ensure that both devices have the same name. |
