The file you download comprises of a number of files that are zipped up to make it easier to download, once you unzip the download it breaks down in to all its individual files, icons (bmp) and data files (ov2).
It is the ov2 and bmp files that need uploading to the device for the updates - Mike |

Actually you don't need to reinstall the .bmps every time... just the .ov2s
When you have those individual files unzipped and you go to find them using MyTomTom, it depends which browser you use whether you are able to select them all at once or only one at a time.
Internet Explorer will only let you select one file at a time, which makes updating rather slow and tedious. Other browsers such as Firefox allow you to select all of the .ov2 files in one go, so they can be uploaded to the TomTom together. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

Thank you for the reply but can you confirm that I am updating the complete database when highlighting all the files not just the 20 etc, I get a message that gives me a list and asks me to confirm. I'm sure it is but I wanted to confirm with a pro. |

I'm not quite sure I understand the question, but does this statement help?
Assuming you have opted for the "speed-zoned" version of the database, then the list of files you need to select to go onto the TomTom to update the database are as follows:
pocketgps_uk_gatso_20.ov2
pocketgps_uk_gatso_30.ov2
pocketgps_uk_gatso_40.ov2
pocketgps_uk_gatso_50.ov2
pocketgps_uk_gatso_60.ov2
pocketgps_uk_gatso_70.ov2
pocketgps_uk_gatso_tba.ov2
pocketgps_uk_gatso_var.ov2
(8)
pocketgps_uk_mobile_20.ov2
pocketgps_uk_mobile_30.ov2
pocketgps_uk_mobile_40.ov2
pocketgps_uk_mobile_50.ov2
pocketgps_uk_mobile_60.ov2
pocketgps_uk_mobile_70.ov2
pocketgps_uk_mobile_tba.ov2
pocketgps_uk_mobile_var.ov2
(8)
pocketgps_uk_pmobile_20.ov2
pocketgps_uk_pmobile_30.ov2
pocketgps_uk_pmobile_40.ov2
pocketgps_uk_pmobile_50.ov2
pocketgps_uk_pmobile_60.ov2
pocketgps_uk_pmobile_70.ov2
pocketgps_uk_pmobile_tba.ov2
pocketgps_uk_pmobile_var.ov2
(8)
pocketgps_uk_redlight.ov2
(1)
pocketgps_uk_specs_20.ov2
pocketgps_uk_specs_30.ov2
pocketgps_uk_specs_40.ov2
pocketgps_uk_specs_50.ov2
pocketgps_uk_specs_60.ov2
pocketgps_uk_specs_70.ov2
pocketgps_uk_specs_tba.ov2
pocketgps_uk_specs_var.ov2
(8)
= a total of 33 .ov2 files
Each of those files contains the complete database for a particular speed and type of camera (not just new entries), so ALL of those files need to be selected in MyTomTom and uploaded to the device each time you update.
As said above, whether you can do that all-in-one-go or only one-by-one depends on what Internet browser you are using.
Hope that clears up the confusion, but try again if we still haven't grasped your concerns. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |
