Hi guys
I have just purchased a Tom Tom start 20.
Is it possible to have the spoken directions turned off but still have the speed camera alert sounds still on? |

Not sure how easy it is on that model, as it has the "simplified" (i.e. not much use) menu.
On full-menu models there is an entry in the Change preferences (now renamed "settings") menu for "Turn off voice guidance", but it may well not be there on your model.
However there should still be a way to achieve it.
You should be able to download and install a "Silent voice".
This replaces your normal voice, and just consists of short recordings of silence instead of all the "turn left", "go round the roundabout", etc. phrases.
I have it on my PC, but I'll see if I can dig out a download link for it. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-)

Here you go....
http://tomtom.gps-data-team.com/celebrity_voices/Silent_Voice.php
Download all three files, and you should end up with:
data99.bmp
data99.chk
data99.vif
Using Windows Explorer, copy all three files into the "voices" folder on the TomTom.
You then need to select that voice in the Voice Preferences menu.
If you need any help, or I've not made something thing clear, just ask.
(EDITED - I found an easier link!) _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-)

Andy, The Start 20 is running Navcore 10 and is therefore dependent upon the "MyTomTom" interface meaning Windows Explorer is out of the window for this one - Mike |

Now, how come I checked that as I was replying and definitely read it as the "Start" and not the "Start 20". I must be going blind!
Even so.... with the latest Navcore and MyTomTom version, we can add voices now. (unless the Start is different somehow)
