Just bought a tom tom 825 after I broke my tom tom 730, (don't ask i'm upset), and wondered if it was possible to transfer the favourits or mapsettings file to the 825 without mucking it up. also the existing speed camera's, as they are now downloaded live, wondered if it was possible to use PGPS's spoken warning alerts for them as i did before on the 730.
Last but not least, I don't know if this device will take other poi's and would like to install low bridge alerts, is it possible to do this on the 825?.
I ask all this bearing in mind previous posts regarding tom tom's policy on third party poi's.
Any other 825 users advice greatly appreciated.
regards

The only way you can salvage the favourites from your 730 is to copy the MapSettings.cfg file to your PC then use POIEdit to open the file, adjust the contents as you see fit then save as ov2 file type (this converts the file to a custom POI category). Name the file "_Favourites" (without the "" but the underscore at the start of the file name is important as it makes the title easier to locate in the list - it will be top of the list every time).
Next use the MyTomTom to add the _Favourites.ov2 file to the new toy, in the same way you can add low bridges or any other third party POI file - Mike
Once it's installed and running, you then need to click on the icon in the PC's system tray (next to the clock) and select "Add community content"
From there, you will get a browser screen (yes, it uses your webbrowser...) that looks something like this:
Click on the "Add POI" box and you can add all the .ov2 camera data files AND the .bmp icons AND the .ogg warning voices, just the same as we used to do in the old way, as well as any other POI files you had.
Use Mike's method above to convert your old Favourites to a POI category.
It's not immediately obvious, but you can click and drag etc. to select multiple files for uploading at the same time. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-)
