hiya, while i love my tech, my wife is a complete and utter technophobe, she is however, needing a satnav now... yep, she cant avoid the inevitable any longer
she also absolutely will not drive on motorways, hates driving at the best of times and being squished by a HGV whilst he was on the phone, did nothing for her confidence
she drives in the course of her work though and does lots of home visits in some rural areas
so, need a simple to use satnav that has good mapping and the ability to set road prefs to avoid motorways.... preferably sub£100 too
screen size isnt to important, and no need for fancy gimmicks such as bluetooth handsfree for mobiles (yes she has one but its always off and often left home!)
have looked at the tomtom start, but note no road pref ability, cant see whether garmins offer this facility or not
If you go to tomtom.com - Shop - Outlet Store, you shall find a selection of refurbished TomToms at good prices. XL's from £90 and One's from £70. You may or may not get an up to date map though, that all depends upon how generous TT are feeling.
My Go 930 is a refurb and it is like new. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

Does your wife make a number of her home visits on the same day? If so, would she want a satnav that can work out a reasonably efficient round route (or is that a tech too far)?
I don't use TTs myself, but have seen this 'itinerary planning' (though I guess you'd need to think of something else to call it! ) mentioned in the TT threads. If it was of interest I'm sure AliOnHols or some other TT-er could advise. _________________ David

Itinerary Planning just forces the route to go past a number of entered waypoints, it doesn't offer to optimize the route so its not that clever in use - Mike
